The sound of an “Old Fashioned”. Rich, silky, and smooth.

“An astonishingly versatile violinist.” - Edmonton Journal

Darcy Stamp is a Canadian jazz violinist whose sound encapsulates the essence of the classic swing era. It is a sound that conjures up images of fedoras, late-night clubs, and classic cocktails - a sound that is immediately evocative of a bygone era.

Darcy's musical journey began as a teenager when he would sneak into jazz clubs in Calgary to hear his favourite musicians in town. His love for music and his determination to pursue it as a career only grew stronger as he became immersed in the jazz scene. He quickly established himself as a talented musician, performing in small clubs and venues across Canada and beyond.

Most recently, he joined the orchestra for six-time GRAMMY winner St. Vincent’s rare symphonic performances at Roy Thomson Hall, working alongside renowned conductor and arranger Jules Buckley to bring her iconic catalog to life in a whole new dimension.

His passion for bringing new works to the jazz violin repertoire has also led him to commission several new pieces, including "The Stamp Collector Suite," which he premiered with the Calgary Jazz Orchestra. His studio album with his Quartet, It Doesn't Have To, But It Might, stands as a brilliant testament to his artistry and his ongoing legacy in the jazz world.
